Fuerteventura is Europe's premier wing foil destination. Located in the Canary Islands, just 100 km off the African coast, it receives consistent NE trade winds over 300 days per year. The warm ocean, flat-water lagoons, and world-class instructors make Corralejo the #1 place to learn and practise wing foil on the continent.

How much does a wing foil lesson cost in Fuerteventura?
Individual wing foil lessons in Corralejo start from 100€ for a 2-hour session. The price includes all equipment (wing, foil board, hydrofoil, wetsuit, helmet) and a certified instructor. Group lessons are available from 80€ per person.
Do I need previous experience to learn wing foil in Fuerteventura?
No experience is needed. Wing foil is accessible to complete beginners. Our certified instructors in Corralejo teach from zero, starting with ground exercises, body dragging, and progressive foil techniques. Most students get their first foil flights in sessions 3–5.
What is the best time of year to do wing foil in Fuerteventura?
The best season for wing foil in Fuerteventura is April to September. The trade winds blow consistently at 15–25 knots. June to August offers the strongest and most reliable winds, while April, May, and September are gentler and ideal for beginners.
What equipment is provided in the wing foil lessons?
All equipment is included: wing (4–6m² depending on wind and body weight), foil board, Armstrong hydrofoil, 3mm wetsuit, helmet, and impact vest. You only need to bring swimwear, sunscreen, and a water bottle.
How is the wing foil camp different from individual lessons?
The wing foil camp in Fuerteventura combines daily 2-hour sessions with accommodation in a surf house or apartment in Corralejo. Consecutive days of practice create much faster progression than isolated lessons. The camp includes equipment, breakfast, and instructor supervision throughout the week.
Before booking a wing foil lesson in Fuerteventura, it helps to know what to expect. Here is the progression structure we use at our Corralejo school — the same one we have refined with 500+ students:
| Session | Location | You learn | Milestone |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Beach + Lagoon | Wing handling, safety, body dragging | Comfortable in the water with the wing |
| 2 | Corralejo Lagoon | Board riding, wing power, steering | Riding across the wind on the board |
| 3 | Corralejo Lagoon | Foil introduction, first lifts, height control | First foil sensations — the board starts to lift |
| 4–5 | Lagoon / Flag Beach | Sustained foiling, downwind runs, first gybes | First real flights! 10–15 seconds in the air |
| 6–7 | Flag Beach / Majanicho | Both directions, tacks, upwind riding | Riding independently in both directions |
| Week 2+ | All spots | Smooth gybes, jumps, wave riding | Autonomous intermediate rider |
The key: consecutive daily sessions accelerate learning dramatically. A student who does sessions 1–7 in one week typically outperforms a student who does 7 sessions spread over 6 months. Sleep consolidates motor memory — 7 consecutive nights of consolidation produce a result that sporadic lessons simply cannot.
⚡ Limited places per session
We cap our instructor-to-student ratio at 4:1. Once our weekly slots fill, we cannot add more. Book early — especially for June, July and August.
Choosing between Fuerteventura, Tarifa, or Tenerife for wing foil? Here is the comparison that our students ask us to make:
| Destination | Wind reliability | Flat water | Year-round | Beginners |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fuerteventura (Corralejo) | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Daily Apr–Sep | ✅ Lagoon (1–2m) | ✅ 300 days wind | ✅ Best in Europe |
| Tarifa, Spain | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gusty Levante | ⚠️ Limited flat | ⚠️ Seasonal gaps | ⚠️ Intermediate+ |
| El Médano, Tenerife | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good | ⚠️ Some chop | ✅ Year-round | ⚠️ Mixed conditions |
| Pozo, Gran Canaria | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Strong | ❌ Waves only | ✅ Year-round | ❌ Advanced only |
After a 7-day wing foil camp in Corralejo, here is what the typical student (no prior board sport experience) can do:
Students with prior experience in kitesurfing, windsurfing, or snowboarding reach these milestones 20–30% faster. Students with no wind sport background still hit every milestone — they just need sessions 5–7 where others get there in sessions 3–5. The outcome at the end of the week is the same.
Can I learn wing foil if I am over 50?
Yes — and our oldest student to date was 67. Wing foil is low-impact in the learning phase. The movements are controlled and the foil rewards patience over athleticism. We have a consistently high success rate with students aged 40–65. The Corralejo Lagoon's gentle, shallow conditions make it safe and accessible for all ages.
How many students are in each lesson?
We maintain a maximum 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio. In practice, most lessons run 2–3 students per instructor during peak season and 1-on-1 in off-peak. Radio communication means every student gets real-time feedback in the water regardless of group size.
Can I rent wing foil equipment in Corralejo without lessons?
Equipment rental without instruction is available for riders who can demonstrate at least intermediate ability (sustained foiling in both directions). We do not rent to complete beginners for safety reasons. For beginners, the lesson price includes all equipment — no separate rental needed.
